A national treasure to all who knew him. Sir John Norman Ide Leslie, was the 4th Baronet, Castle Leslie (6 December 1916 – 18 April 2016). Sir John Leslie’s bust is cast in bronze. While many people knew “Uncle Jack” and his lighter side, often recounting wonderful amusing anecdotes, he was also a man of great depth.
While he was sat for me, he was editing his memoirs. Naturally, most of the book was about his life and travels. But he was also passionate about his local village community and particularly that their stories were told too.
